The year has barely started and yet we are already faced with tragedy as two world musical icons said their goodbyes. First, we were devastated to have found out that Dolores O’Riordan has died. She was known for being the lead singer of the Irish alternative band the Cranberries. She was only 46 when she passed away.
The cause of death is unknown, however, because the Cranberries being forced to cancel their tour due to Dolores being ill, it’s said that she has been very sick for some time now.
Just as we started to accept that Dolores’ O’Riordan has died, now we’re faced with the death of a South African music master.
Hugh Masekela, the South African music legend has died. Hugh was 78 years part of this life, and it’s still so difficult to accept that he’s gone. Known as Bra Hugh by all the world over, Hugh was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2008.
Although Hugh Masekela has passed, the memory he left us with will always live on in the hearts of South Africans. He was without a doubt one of the best trumpet players to have ever lived.
